HIV/AIDS presents challenges for all people. This multidisciplinary course focuses on the biological, sociocultural, political and humanistic components of this worldwide epidemic. It also emphasizes the prevention of the spread of HIV infection. Students will have an opportunity to learn about the science of HIV/AIDS, treatment, issues related to the societal and political impact of HIV/AIDS, and the education/prevention of HIV/AIDS. Students will participate in service learning projects related to educating the SMCC community on HIV/AIDS. Prerequisite(s): ENG 080 and 090.
