Building on the research about how human beings learn, this course will expose students to the parallels between human cognition and teaching for learning with deep levels of understanding. Students will be exposed to the many facets of teaching, from a successful classroom environment, to the changing roles of teachers in the information age, to the impact and challenges of learner diversity, and the issues involved in school reform. The course format will be collaborative by design and emphasize group work and thinking as well as individual critical reflection on topics throughout the course. Prerequisite(s): ENG 080 and ENG 090.
