This course is designed to introduce students to the fundamental concepts of patient care, including radiation protection and considerations of patient physical and psychosocial conditions. Routine and emergency patient care procedures will be described. The role of the radiographer in patient education, and ethical and legal issues will also be identified. Aspects of vital sign determination, medical surgical asepsis, infection control, patient communication, and ethical issues will be discussed. Radiation protection will include types of interaction of radiation and matter, as well as radiation safety and protective measures for the patient as well as personnel.
