LAB + LEC 3 Credits 3 Periods Overview of voice telecommunications systems that include both central office based and premised based platforms. Switching and transmission telecommunications concepts include numbering plans, powering, types of switches, call processing, signaling systems, traffic engineering. Topics include PBXs, and peripheral equipment, T1 trunk lines, and VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) basics. Set-up and basic trouble-shooting of PBX systems: programming phones and voice mail. Prerequisites: None. TLT101 suggested but not required for students with no prior telecommunications experience.
