This upper-level technical course is designed to give learners advanced knowledge and practical experiences required to be employed in the machining field. Areas covered include the action of cutting tools, cutting fluids, cutting tool materials, precision layout, measuring and inspection, and basic metallurgy. Advanced precision machining techniques are practiced on lathes (tool post grinding), horizontal and vertical mills, and surface grinders. Prerequisites/Corequisites Prerequisites: Complete MCHT1620-Machine Tool Technology II. Credits: 6 Lecture/Lab Hours 9 lect/lab hrs/week
