This course explores effective methods of observation and guidance of young children to meet children?s needs individually and in groups. Emphasis is placed on promoting a positive and constructive climate in early childhood settings through positive discipline strategies and appropriate classroom management techniques. Students develop and implement skills to plan effective environments, prepare materials and equipment, develop schedules, explore classroom management techniques, utilize assessment tools, and promote parent-teacher communication. This course includes 27 hours of a field component to provide opportunities for students to apply course principles and theories.
