Meets MN Transfer Goal Area 8 - Global Perspective This is the first course in a two-semester sequence in Beginning Spanish. Beginning level vocabulary (colors, family, time, basic descriptions) is introduced and then is incorporated into elementary conversations and writing assignments. Grammar presented in the first semester includes present tense of regular and irregular verbs and the future tense. The course covers essential grammar, oral and listening practices, composition and reading. Students are also introduced to the cultures of Spanish-speaking countries, with an emphasis on the differences among them. Linguistic varieties as well as idiomatic differences among Spanish-speaking countries are also introduced. (4 C: 4 lect/pres, 0 lab, 0 other)
