Meets MN Transfer Goal 5 - History and the Social and Behavioral Sciences. This course introduces students to the basic concepts, theories, and perspectives of sociology. Social interaction, social structure, social relationships, and stratification are analyzed to deepen understanding of how individuals function within larger social contexts. Students will use sociological data, concepts and theories to think critically about social institutions. Prerequisite(s): READ0304, ENGL0304 or Appropriate Accuplacer Score.
