Meets MN Transfer Goal 3 - Natural Sciences. This course is intended as a broad introduction to chemistry for the non-science major as well as for the allied health science major. Topics covered include the scientific method, atomic structure, the periodic table, bonding, acids and bases, nomenclature, equations, stoichiometry, gas laws, and oxidation and reduction. This course includes two hours of required lab per week. The laboratory introduces students to safe handling of chemicals, appropriate use of lab ware, and transcription of observations and data. Attendance in the first week lab safety session is mandatory. Prerequisite(s): READ0304, ENGL0304 or Appropriate Accuplacer Score. (4 C: 3 lect/pres, 1 lab, 0 other)
