This class examines the many aspects of management of health information services. It introduces the general principles of management. Leadership theory and change management are examined. Work design and performance improvement specific to the HIM field are discussed. Human resource management concepts including position descriptions, performance standards, interview techniques, building effective teamwork, staff training and development, laws affecting organization workforce, financial management functions of HIM profession are introduced. The steps and scope of project management are discussed. HIM strategic management processes are explored. Prerequisite(s): ADMS1225 (3 C: 3 lect/pres, 0 lab, 0 other)
