This course is a combination of DEVE 0312 (Reading Skills) and DEVE 0314 (Reading Improvement), allowing students to complete both courses in the same semester. This is a fast-paced, reading-intensive course designed to improve fundamental reading skills necessary for success in academic programs and the workplace. Emphasis is placed on stated and implied main ideas, supporting details, relationships, inferences, facts and opinions, purpose and tone, critical reading and thinking skills and vocabulary development. Placement scores: A COMPASS Reading Placement test score from 0 to 57, or a score of 12 or below on the reading section of the ACT. Students taking this course must receive a grade of "C" or better in this course and in DEVE 0316 (College Reading) in the subsequent semester to complete the developmental reading program at PTC. Final grade will be A, B, C, or NC (no credit) (6 credit hours)
