This course is designed to increase basic reading skills essential for success in academic programs and the workplace. The course emphasizes identifying the stated main idea, supporting details, relationships and vocabulary development. Placement scores: A COMPASS Reading Placement test score from 0 to 57, or a score of 12 or below on the reading section of the ACT. Students taking Reading Skills must receive a grade of "C" or better in the course and in DEVE 0314 (Reading Improvement) and DEVE 0316 (College Reading) in subsequent semesters to complete the developmental reading program at PTC. Final grade will be A, B, C or NC (no credit) (3 credit hours)
