This course is the study of environmental and hereditary effects on the cognitive, affective, psychomotor and sociolinguistic development of typically and atypically developing children from conception to middle childhood. Students are introduced to ways to observe and evaluate children ? development and recognize possible delays in development. Practical application of theory is provided through a variety of hands-on experiences and observations. Prerequisite: DEVE 0316 with a grade of "C" or better, a COMPASS Reading Placement test score of 82 and above, a score of 19 and above on the reading section of the ACT. (3 credit hours)
