This course is a study of the automatic transmission beginning with a review of gear theory and the introduction of the planetary gearset. Course continues with a brief review of the basics of hydraulic theory and a study of the basic transmission components common to most automatic transmissions to provide students an overview of the operation and construction of a typical unit. 4 lecture hours, 5 lab hours. (6 credit hours/special course fee)
