Studies digital logic, Boolean algebra, number systems, and arithmetic circuits, using standard integrated circuits and the functional block approach. Introduces memory devices, analog to digital (A/D) and digital to analog (D/A) converters. May include the study of registers, encoding and decoding, and multiplexing. Introduces concepts of computers, the internal operation and control language. Lecture 3 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 6 hours per week. Prerequisite: ETR 113 and MTH 115.
