9 cr. Provides opportunities to attain the knowledge and skills necessary to implement the roles of a practical nurse in providing care to acutely ill patients across the lifespan. Focuses on the care of individual patients with health problems related to the respiratory, cardiovascular, endocrine, and musculoskeletal systems. Includes pathophysiological effects, such as fluid and electrolyte imbalances and pain, and treatment modalities, such as pharmacology and surgery, associated with these health problems. Also provides opportunities to learn concepts related to the care of developing families. Prerequisite: NUR 106. Clinical: Registration must be completed and TB test results and proof of current immunizations submitted before a student is permitted in the clinical area. Current CPR certification is also required. Corequisite: BI 233 and PSY 237. Corequisites may be completed prior to enrollment in NUR 108.
