2 class hours, 2 lab hours Provides the groundwork for understanding the roles and responsibilities of the Medical Assistant. General topics include analysis of the health care team, therapeutic communication, emergency procedures and first aid, medical asepsis, medical history, vital signs, body systems, general office settings, and physical examination. In the lab, students practice skills introduced, including specimen collection, asepsis, and care of equipment and supplies. Pre/Corequisite: ALH 111; Corequisite: MDA 121
