3 sem hrs cr This course focuses on the four aspects of language usage - reading, writing, speaking, listening - with particular attention to skills which aid students in successfully entering mainstream classes in their desired field of study.Non-native speakers will be required to register for ESL 1000 if they score below 500 on an institutionally-administered pre-TOEFL exam or present a national TOEFL score below 50. Hours earned in ESL may not be used in any degree or certificate program.
