5 hours credit This course is designed to introduce the student to the theory, concepts, and applications of differential and integral calculus. Analytical methods of graphing algebraic and trigonometric functions will be used. The TI-83 or 84 series graphing calculator is required. Students will be expected to use appropriate technology as one tool to achieve competency in Calculus I (Engineering). Prerequisites: Grade of "C" orhigher in MATH-0105, College Algebra or MATH-0108, Pre-Calculus Mathematics and MATH-0112, Trigonometry. Mandatory placement for first time college students or first time math students is based on the ACCUPLACER Elementary Algebra test. The following scores determine placement in math courses: 0-30 MATH-0097 Math Essentials 31-70 71-99 100-120 MATH-0099 Elementary Algebra MATH-0104 Intermediate Algebra Enrollment is open First-time college students who have taken the ACT or SAT within the last 24 months may be exempt from taking the placement evaluation in Math if their score is ACT 23/SAT 575 or higher in math.
