3 hours credit Ceramics I is a one-semester study of three-dimensional design in the medium of clay. The techniques of hand building and wheel throwing will be introduced with an emphasis on the development of an understanding of the form and functions of utilitarian and sculptural projects in clay. The design quality of the project form and surface treatment will be emphasized. The concepts of aesthetics and art criticism will be explored.
