3 hours credit The goal of the course is increase awareness of self in relation to the roles of teachers. Career opportunities in education are considered. Field experience is an important component of the course. It consists of three hours observing at three school levels (elementary, middle, and secondary) and six hours interacting with practicing professionals (e.g., regular-classroom and special-area teachers, administrators, school psychologists, school counselors, and speech therapists). Group discussion is a second important component of the course. The discussions focus on reactions to the field experience, with emphasis on relating observations to self.
