3 hours credit This course is a multidisciplinary and a multicultural approach to the study of community economic development. It examines the theoretical and the practical aspects of community economic development with particular emphasis is on the socio-economic and political indicators. Critical issues such as income, jobs, the environment, sustainability, taxation, political participation, entrepreneurship and community resource mapping among others are addressed. Prerequisite: ECON-0201, Principles of Macroeconomics or ECON-0202, Principles of Microeconomics or consent of the instructor.
