Prerequisites: Approval of the railroad training administrator and the JCCC program assistant dean This course is designed to introduce the mechanic to the different types of symbols found on railroad track equipment. Major symbols families that will be discussed include mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, ladder and logic devices. At the end of each major topic, several small projects will be assigned to ensure that understanding has been achieved. As a final project, students will be assigned a project that will test their ability to use correctly several different families of symbols in one complete working drawing. 1 1/2 hrs. lecture, 1 hr. lab/wk.
