Prerequisite: AVPN 115 In Nursing II, the student will continue to explore the practical nurse's role in assisting clients to meet basic and more complex physiological needs using the nursing process in a variety of health care settings, including acute care, long-term care and mental health facilities. The student will apply concepts of leadership and change and demonstrate the roles of charge nurse, medication nurse, treatment nurse and patient-care nurse in long-term care. The student will promote adaptive responses in the child and family during the child's illness, pregnancy, labor and delivery, and postpartum and neonatal phases of reproductive processes. The student will explore the adaptive capacity of individuals with emotional stresses and diagnosed mental disorders across the life span. Basic concepts of gerontology, professional vocational relationships, pharmacology, medical terminology and nutrition will be applied in the care delivered. In-state tuition and fees $1075 total. Out-of-state tuition and fees $4,485 total. 550 contact hrs. The credit reflected in this course is for transcript reporting, recording and transfer only. Enrollment in certain courses may require a professional liability fee of $16.00. Students will be notified via their JCCC student e-mail account if the fee is due and instructions on how to pay the fee. Associated Costs: In addition to the course tuition, fees, and textbooks, this course has additional expense considerations that are estimated to be $250 to $550.
