Prerequisite: IT 247 This is an advanced course that covers the techniques and features for enabling or enhancing Wide Area Network (WAN) and remote access solutions. It focuses on using one or more of the available WAN dialup or permanent connection technologies for remote access between enterprise sites. This course includes asynchronous modem connections, Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) features, and network security using Virtual Private Networks (VPNs). Students will apply common remote access solutions including ISDN Basic Rate Interface and Primary Rate Interface (BRI and PRI), Dial-On-Demand Routing (DDR), Frame Relay, dial backup, Quality of Service (QOS), and Authentication Authorization Accounting (AAA). 3 hrs. lecture, 2 hrs. lab/wk.
