Prerequisite: MUS 165 This is an intermediate-level course for students seeking instruction in the craft of musical composition. Traditional compositional techniques and concepts will be studied through demonstration and practice. Students will learn to use a computer to notate their compositions, will begin to work with tonal harmony, will write music for a trio and/or quartet, and will have a piece performed during a music department recital. 1 hr. lecture/wk.
