Prerequisites: HVAC 121 and either HVAC 123 or ELTE 123 Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to identify all the components and accessories and their relation to the functions of residential air conditioning systems. Topics covered will include electric and natural gas air conditioner condensing units, metering devices, evaporation coils, and refrigerants. Electrical diagrams, psychrometric charts and techniques for efficient operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of these systems make up the laboratory portion of the course. The student will be required to provide ANSI Z87 safety glasses and may be expected to provide other basic hand tools and/or equipment. 3 hrs. lecture, 3 hrs. lab/wk. Associated Costs: In addition to the course tuition, fees, and textbooks, this course has additional expense considerations that are estimated to be $30 to $150.
