Prerequisite: IT 247 This course is designed to teach students how to protect local area networks (LANs) using firewall security devices. It focuses on the overall security process based on a security policy with an emphasis on hands-on skills. It covers the basic functionality of the Cisco Private Internet Exchange (PIX) product family. Students will learn specific PIX configurations and settings designed to maximize security. This course is also intended to prepare students to pass the Cisco Secure PIX Firewall Certification exam. 3 hrs. lecture, 2 hrs. lab/wk.
