Prerequisites: Admission to the Dental Hygiene Program, a minimum 2.0 GPA in curriculum courses and CHEM 122 and ENGL 121 and BIOL 140 and PSYC 130 and BIOL 230 Corequisites: DHYG 125 and DHYG 138 Prerequisite or corequisite: DHYG 135 and SOC 122 This course will includes information and techniques relating to the history, development, current status and future of the profession of dental hygiene. Students will be introduced to fundamental dental hygiene services, instrumentation, patient assessment, preventive treatment, transmissible diseases, exposure barriers and infection control. Enrollment in certain courses may require a professional liability fee of $16.00. Students will be notified via their JCCC student e-mail account if the fee is due and instructions on how to pay the fee. 2 hrs. lecture, 13 hrs. lab/wk. Associated Costs: In addition to the course tuition, fees, and textbooks, this course has additional expense considerations that are estimated to be $3300 to $3350.
