This one-hour lab course is required of students enrolled in RED 1003 College Reading Techniques. It provides students the opportunity to practice the skills they are learning in the lecture class. Through this lab experience, students develop their abilities to concentrate, recognize main ideas, make correct inferences, define words from context clues and word parts, respond to transitions appropriately, and visualize the organization of the material they are reading. Students complete course assignments (readings, workbook pages, computer modules, etc.) on their own with assistance from the lab instructor or assistants. Most of the course work is completed in the lab with a minimal amount of take-home work. This course is held in the College Preparatory Lab in the Learning Assistance Center. Co-requisite: RED 1003.
