This course extends and tailors management principles developed in MM 1203, Principles of Management, to the entrepreneurial small business environment. Principle topics include developing an effective business plan, starting up and marketing a business venture, sources of financing, and appropriate financial controls. It also requires students to consult with a local business, prepare a detailed report on its operations, and provide suggestions for improvement to the owner as appropriate. Prerequisite: MM 1203 or permission of instructor.
