This is a two-semester course in the fundamentals of organic chemistry recommended for chemistry, biology, and pre-professional majors. It studies the structure, properties, synthesis, and typical reactions of the various series of hydrocarbons and their derivatives with emphasis on reaction mechanisms. It is offered only on demand. Prerequisite for 2114: CHEM 1425 with a grade of "C" or better. Prerequisite for 2214: CHEM 2114with a grade of "C" or better.
