This course will teach the participant how to recognize and respond to life-threatening emergencies such as cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest in the pediatric patient. The student will review rhythm recognition and how to use the heart monitor in the various modes of electrical therapy in the pediatric mode. The student will learn the signs and symptoms along with the management algorithm associated with pediatric life threatening rhythms. The advanced provider will learn and practice the various forms of advanced airway management along with a review of CPR for victims of all pediatric patients (including ventilation with barrier devices and bag-mask devices), use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (FBAO).
