This course will teach the participant how to recognize and respond to life-threatening emergencies such as cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest, and foreign-body airway obstruction (chocking). The student will learn to recognize heart attack and stroke symptoms in adults and breathing difficulty in children. This course teaches the skills needed to respond to the emergencies identified. The participant will learn the skills of CPR for victims of all ages (including ventilation with barrier devices and bag-mask devices), use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (FBAO).
