This class is intended to teach students the legal rights, duties and responsibilities of the contracting parties involved in all aspects of the construction industry. The class will focus on contract law as the foundation of construction relationships, but will include various duties implied by law as well. The students will apply legal concepts to practical situations and learn to use acquired knowledge and skills to benefit owners, design professionals, contractors, sub-contractors, and suppliers. Various construction industry professionals will contribute practical experience and knowledge in areas of law, insurance, bonding, government procurement, design, contracting, subcontracting, and supplying construction materials.
