This course deals with visual perception and observational drawing skills. Activities include a variety of techniques, from quick sketches to drawings that take several hours to complete. Students will learn to use a variety of media such as charcoal, cont' crayon and pen and ink. Drawing from direct observation and the imagination will provide an avenue for learning different ways of composing picture space. Assignments focus on creative visual problem solving. Writing activities will center on appropriate use of vocabulary associated with design elements and principles, aesthetics and critical thinking.
