Prerequisites: Students with an ACT score of 16-18 or a COMPASS writing score of 51-74 and a reading score of 71-80 are required to take this course. Helps students gain confidence and skill in writing so that they will be successful in college-level writing classes. Develops skill in inventing, planning, writing, and revising short essays. Introduces research strategies. Also focuses on a review of English grammar with an emphasis on sentence elements, punctuation, and sentence structure. Students must have a P (pass) to enroll in the next course. This course is non-matriculated: the credits do not count towards the total credit hours required for graduation.
