The second course within a set of three consecutive second year courses for the intermediate student of Japanese. Emphasis is on building reading and writing skills, and vocabulary acquisition. The student will study 165 kanji, elements of advanced grammar and Japanese culture. Reading and writing with kanji, hiragana, and katakana is required. The student will continue to refine hearing comprehension and conversation skills. Recommended prerequisite: JPN 201 or instructor permission. [W]
