A developmental course meaning that the students (whatever their competency level at the beginning of the course) are expected to grow continuously throughout the semester. The students will develop a high degree of familiarity with and a respect for the usage of the basic principles of ASL through nonverbal communication techniques, eye training and fingerspelling. Also, students will be introduced to the basic patterns of American Sign Language (ASL) through discipline and instruction. Three lecture hours. Two lab hours. Four semester hours credit.
