This is an introductory course for students interested in an early childhood education career. The focus will be on theories, philosophies, and the basic skills and competencies new teachers will need for success in early childhood settings. This course is an introductory course in the fi eld of early childhood education and child care. Study focuses on history, principles, philosophy, teaching practices and approaches and career opportunities in the early childhood profession. The principles learned in this course will allow the student to recognize and apply developmentally appropriate practices in early childhood education, teaching, and related careers.
