TM 111 - Fundamental Massage Techniques

Prerequisite: Admission to the Theraputic Massage Program; TM 110 and BIOL 140 with a grade of "C" or better This course is a presentation of classic Swedish Massage to relax the musculature as well as increase the blood and lymphatic flow throughout the body. In addition to basic traditional massage techniques, good posture, table mechanics, touch and pressure sensitivity, and professional conduct, such as draping, are practiced. The history of massage, benefits, contraindications, and therapist self-care issues will be discussed.
