Prerequisite: None This course addresses the socio-cultural factors influencing roles of women and men in the arts, examining the role played by visual images in the cultural construction of gender in the west, from Renaissance to post-modern eras. We will consider gender as a vehicle for the understanding of art, while considering the constructions of masculinity and femininity within the canons of western art.
