Prerequisite: ED 110 and MATH 20B & C & D This course gives an overview of the theoretical foundations and contemporary practices that support mathematical thinking in young children. The Principles and Standards for School Mathematics by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (2000) serve as a guide for the content and inquiry processes that are essential to an effective mathematics curriculum. May be taken on a CR/N basis. (3 hrs. lect. per week)
