This course focuses on the clinical application of science to the practice of respiratory care. Topics include common microbial pathogens seen with pulmonary infection, infection control guidelines, oxygenation, acid-base balance, and the physical principles of ventilation in health and disease. Emphasis is placed on blood gas interpretation, capnography, puncture techniques, protection of the respiratory therapist, and disinfection and sterilization of respiratory care equipment. Prerequisites: RTH 100 and RTH 125
