Socializes the student nurse into today's nursing and introduces concepts necessary for functioning at optimal levels as a student and ADN graduate nurse. This course includes Orem's Self-Care Deficit Theory of Nursing; principles of major theories such as role, learning, systems, and change; professional values and ethics; legal issues; trends and components of the health care delivery system. Two consecutive hours of theory per week. Prerequisites: Acceptance to the Nursing program Note: The theory portion of this course is taught during the day. The students who enter the program in fall take the course in fall. Those who enter in winter semester take it in winter.
