The course introduces students to the installation, configuration, and management of web server software. Students gain hands-on experience installing and administering the two dominant web server software platforms: Apache web server and Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS). Topics include: web server security, performance monitoring and tuning, virtual hosting, proxy servers, and supporting database and dynamic content. This is an excellent course for anyone interested in pursuing or working in the network, server, or web administration; web development; or computer information systems fields. Prerequisites: CIS 100
