This course is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and clinical skills to become a laboratory phlebotomist. This course includes the roleofthephlebotomist, basicanatomy& physiology, safety and infection control principles, techniques of blood draws and technical complications that can occur. Special emphasis is also planned on understanding life-span differences and legal principles that can effect the actions of a phlebotomist. Successful completion of the course will also entitle the participant to take the AmericanSociety of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) national certification exam for laboratory phlebotomist. Prerequisites: Must have adequate knowledge of reading, writing and verbal communication skills in the English language. Student must also have earned a high school diploma or GED.
