Available: spring 2 Cr. Hrs This course prepares the climber to safely climb on his or her own in an unsupervised setting and builds upon the basic skills learned in PHYE 133. Course content includes safely evaluating a climb, building anchor systems, rope management, rappelling, self rescue, and improving climbing technique. The course includes at least one multiday trip to local climbing areas. Students must furnish or rent basic climbing equipment. This course includes a course fee. Prerequisite: PHYE 133 or instructor permission.
