3 Cr. Hrs This course is an introduction to counseling. It serves as a foundation for basic counseling skills including: reflecting, paraphrasing, establishing rapport, developing positive regard, summarizing and basic motivational interviewing techniques. Students will be given the opportunity to explore cultural differences in counseling methods and to demonstrate effectiveness in working with cultural differences. Students will role play and demonstrate skills as an integral part of this course.
