Advanced cardiopulmonary monitoring is presented with emphasis on ECG interpretation and hemodynamic and exhaled gas monitoring and therapeutic interventions. Chest radiograph, CT and MRI interpretation will be introduced. Pharmacological agents that afect the cardiopulmonary, renal, and acid base regulatory systems; paralyzing agents, analgesics, sedatives, administration safety, dose range monitoring response to and basic fuid and electrolyte balance will be presented. Writing assignments, as appropriate to the discipline, are part of the course. Prerequisite: Respiratory Care courses 129, and 146, or Consent of Department Chairperson. 3lecture and 2 lab hours per week. 4 credit hours.
